Floral Bomber…a fresh spring summery twist!

“Nobody sees a flower - really - it is so small it takes time - we haven't time - and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.”

Georgia O'Keeffe

The recent London weather, which has oscillated between spring and winter, has had many a person moaning and sent running for warmth and cover. However, I feel it has definitely warmed up which means despite spring being underplayed summer is starting to make an appearance. Hurrah! Yes, one must always be optimistic about these things!

A particularly encouraging trend is all the lovely bright spring colours and prints that are cropping up everywhere. How are you getting inspired for your spring/summer wardrobe?

Organic forms in naturalism exude timeless elegance and femininity. Above all, exquisite floral detailing and textile design are ultimate essentials for fashionable sophistication, in particular the spring/summer wardrobe.

The SS 2013 season is taking a different direction in the use of floral textile: watercolour painted florals and sheer fabrics are crucial, playing with blurring and abstract prints for delicacy.
Sheer florals over plaids match each other exquisitely.
Floral prints and motifs with bows, ruffles, laces and embroideries in various fabrics have been used to great effect by many fashion RTW designers and couturiers to implement delicate femininity.

Sailing away with Sandra

Our nautical inspired bag, Sandra, has finally arrived!
Nica Sandra Shopper Handbag in Green

Nica and her design team have been hard at work creating the new summer collection. Here are some exclusive behind the scenes pictures showing the inspiration behind our new Summer shoulder bag, the Sandra bag, and some snaps of the design sketches. Inspired by an old vintage deck chair, our new Sandra Shopper is a lovely addition to this season’s nautical theme. Wear it as a summer city bag or as your go-to beach accessory.

Designer’s comments –
“We love this bag because it’s an easy access bag for beach wear and the boat charm adds a playful element to the bag. Colours are vibrant and make the bag stand out. The stripes are on trend, continuing the nautical theme without the harsh palettes of Navy to make it more feminine”

Exclusive! Here are some cheeky behind the scenes shots from our nautical themed summer photo shoot. For one day, Nica and her team of talented designers transformed the Nica showroom at Nica HQ into a stunning studio set. Adding a touch of nautical fun, each little paper boat was delicately handcrafted by the Nica design team from wallpaper scraps and off cuts of wrapping paper. Origami is definitely making a comeback!

A warm welcome to Westminster

Westminster Uni meets Nica!
Recently, Nica was proud to open the doors to Nica’s HQ to the buying students from Westminster University.
We started the presentation off with one of the Nica Designers, Melissa Wong and Product Manager, Tracey De Sousa going through the intricate detailing and design that goes into each and every Nica bag.

After educating the students about the Nica brand, we asked them to put together and merchandise a range of our handbags and purses which they think could be suitable for our main department store customers for SS13.

The girls set to work and came up with some lovely ideas....

After putting together their range together, the students were asked to present their range and rationale for their decisions to the rest of the group. After seeing their creative flair in their choices, we then asked them to design what they think should be the next Nica handbag charm...

They certainly didn’t disappoint and gave us some great vintage inspired designs and sketches.

We would like to thank the students from Westminster University for coming to Nica HQ and taking part with such enthusiasm.
We wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you again soon.
